Biog: Only child of Peter Kerr, of Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire; m. (1874) Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 1st Bt (cr 13 October 1903). (Husband: He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Renfrewshire. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Antrim. He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Antrim. He held the office of High Sheriff of County Antrim in 1899. He was created 1st Baronet Smiley, of Drumalis, Larne, co. Antrim and Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire [U.K.] on 13 October 1903. Date: June 1904. Occasion: The Court, 13 May 1904: presented1 by Hon. Mrs. Robert Boyle.
