Occasion: The Devonshire House Ball, 2nd July 1897.

Location: The Lafayette Studio, 179 New Bond Street, London, W.

Descr: TQL standing.

Costume:

"...the gown being composed of gold satin duchesse, embroidered with emeralds, rubies, and turquoise, opening over an underskirt of dark blue peau de soie, embroidered with masonic gold and fringed; the bodice arranged with zouave fronts, embroidered to correspond, over a vest of old point d'Alencon lace; with this gown was worn the Polish coat of cherry velvet, lined with same colour and bordered with sable, and the hanging sleeves embroidered with gold to match the underskirt. The turban was of velvet and sable." (The Court Journal, 10 July 1897, p 1249b).
